Systems group website

Welcome to SysWeb

PLEASE NOTE: WE HAVE MOVED TO A NEW SITE: Communications and Systems Department.

THESE PAGES ARE NO LONGER UPDATED BUT HAVE BEEN LEFT IN PLACE FOR NOW SO THAT SOME OF THE RESOURCES CAN STILL BE USED (e.g. the diagramming tutorials).

The Open University Systems Group is committed to the study and application of systems ideas.

Our activites extend from addressing significant social, ecological, and environmental issues to understanding the implications of computing and networking technology.

In our teaching we do pioneering work in subject matter and pedagogical models, and also in the use of the internet for supporting open learning.

Our research encompasses not only conventional, publication-driven inquiry but also 'action research': helping people in organisations to engage with poorly-structured or controversial issues.

To find out more about the OU Systems Group see our Annual Reports or the Open Systems Research Group and Integrated Waste Systems Research Group research pages and reports.

NOTE: On 1st October 2007, we became part of the Communications and Systems Department within the Faculty of Mathematics, Computing and Technology. Before that date we were a separate department, and parts of this website still refer to the Systems Department.
